- Call phones from Gmail
- Seems that one can now "call phones in the US and Canada for free" from Google Voice Chat. Time to ditch my Skype subscription? Elsewhere I've heard free in 2010, unknown cost beyond. One cool thing about Skype is that when I'm offline it'll forward calls to my cell for "free" (it's included in my unlimited north american calling plan)
- 8 Writing Tips from C.S. Lewis
- Numbers 1 and 2 are the primary ones that I'm focused on these days. That said, as the poster's commentary notes, good, modern books may be difficult to find. I'm also glad to hear an English professor say "write with the ear, not the eye." I'm not a big fan of the supposed rules of grammar.
- Scathing SBI audit says 230 cases tainted by shoddy investigations
- As the article notes, in these cases they state withheld or distorted evidence in a number of cases, three of which have already led to executions. You can find links to similar corruption scandals in other states linked to from another article discussing this case from North Carolina. It's kinda like security theatre at the airport, except I'd guess that judicial theatre might be a bit more deadly.
- Women Now Empowered By Everything A Woman Does
- It's always good to get a dose of the Onion every now and then. That said, the article is surprisingly close to reality in terms of how feminist attitudes towards issues like pornography have shifted over the years.
