On a related note, The Atlantic recently published an article entitled The Great Stock Myth: Why the market’s rate of return—and your nest egg—may never recover looking at long-term analysis of the stock market. Reminds me a little of another article on a similar topic a while back.

I'd argue that the elephant in the room is still population aging though.
