On reading

Can't really say that I've followed this advice too closely, but it doesn't sound like a bad idea:

"A student will find that his mental constitution is more affected by one book thoroughly mastered than by twenty books which he has merely skimmed, lapping at them."

I suppose that as a grad student at the moment a fair bit of reading is pretty much inevitable though.
