God Is Not Dead Yet
"In a recent article, University of Western Michigan philosopher Quentin Smith laments what he calls "the desecularization of academia that evolved in philosophy departments since the late 1960s." The Secrets of Hissing Trees
"Three years ago, a researcher collecting tree core samples in Connecticut was startled to see one of the trees begin to hiss and spit. Even more surprising, he found that the leaking gas could be set on fire." I was somewhat amused by the first commenter who asked "What's worse? Shale gas or trees?" The article notes old-growth forests as net carbon emitters but that chopping them down would result in release of significant carbon emissions. One thing that I have seen argued for before is the chopping down of trees and burying the logs, thereby keeping them as a carbon reservoir.
