Why I find the "Solidarity with Gaza" view rather naive
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in yesterday's paper:
The leader of Hamas, sitting next to the Hamas leader of Gaza, a man who praised Osama bin Laden, this weekend openly called for the destruction of Israel. Where was the outrage? Where were the UN resolutions? Where was President Abbas?
At the same point in time the following sentence is also worth pondering:
If anything, many of Israel’s military operations are more popular and less controversial in the United States than they are in Israel itself.
The article argues that this is really just an instance of American's buying into Realpolitik, though I'd also ascribe it to some naiveté.
