Rankings and relevance
I always find it interesting just how variable some of the rankings mechanisms used to evaluate universities are. Without even looking at individual faculties or drilling down even further to individual supervisors there's still a fair bit of variance. Wikipedia chronicles the University of Calgary's reputation and ranking in a number of different systems.
- Macleans (whose ranking system has been questioned) and the Globe and Mail aren't big fans and place it not too high on the scale
- The Academic Ranking of World Universities lists it as somewhere between 6-8th nationally, 76-98th in the Americas, and between 151-200 worldwide
- Webometrics University Rankings lists it as being 5th in Canada, 59th in the US and Canada, and 71st globally
- Research Infosource ranks Calgary as 7th in Canada
Still debating the Ph.D. programs here versus elsewhere.

What other places are you
What other places are you looking at? Any of them around here? With Darren attached and Ryan as good as attached, I don't see them less often than before which wasn't very often.

At the moment I'm eying U of
At the moment I'm eying U of A and a couple of smaller schools in Ontario. Anything in BC is somewhat unlikely, but UBC and UVic would both be on the list of possibilities.
