How you should disagree

This is from a theological setting, but the general principles apply elsewhere. The short version I think would be something like the following: Be able to restate your opponent's views in a manner that they'd agree with (AKA know their arguments and remember context).

The wonders of DRM: eBook edition

Having bought a Kobo Touch a few weeks ago, just prior to departing for Europe, I'm now in the eBooks market and getting more annoyed at DRM and the ebook industry. A few reasons:

  1. Differing availablility of titles both by country and by store. At the moment some books that I'd like to get appear to only be available in Kindle format as ebooks.
  2. Amazon won't allow those to work on my device - and that includes a few Kindle books that I picked up prior to getting a dedicated ereader. Another example of how DRM prevents me from spending money (and how "piracy" yields a better product in many industries than the legitimate thing).
  3. For older titles, I can often get a copy (including shipping) for less than I'd have to pay for the electronic book.

I've still like to get a larger-screen ereader to make it better for academic works, but, of course, assuming that they release a new model soon, buying a Kindle DX would only aggravate some of the above problems.

(On a related note: I rather wish that Kobo had kept physical page-turn buttons in addition to the touch screen, but other than that I kind of like the eBook).
