New CPR rules say skip mouth-to-mouth
That applies to "bystanders who aren't trained in CPR — or those who fear their skills are rusty." A little like ABS brakes ... good in some situations, not so good in others?
In courtroom twist, juror now a witness
At least the juror in question wasn't the new defendant. That would have been even more ironic.
The Popeye factor: How supermarket fluorescent lights boost the nutrients in spinach
So the fresher the produce, the lower the vitamin count? Or is this effect due to the length of time the spinach would have spent in the dark during shipping in which it would have lost these nutrients?

Violence amongst the Sikhs versus amongst the Muslims

In any other political climate, a U.S. president's visit to a historic Sikh temple and major Indian tourist attraction would be about as noncontroversial as a foreign state visit could get. The Sikhs, after all, practice a studiously inclusive, noncontroversial faith that shuns violent conflict of all kind.

- White House cancels Obama trip to Sikh temple over Muslim rumor concerns

I suppose that it was nonviolence that downed that Air India flight, or assasinated an Indian prime minister (because of an event that involved that same Sikh temple that Obama was to visit). Or, in Surrey, BC:

Watts said she was disappointed the parade included a float honouring Sikh separatist extremists as martyrs. ...There were also posters of men who founded what are considered terrorist groups and who played a role in assassinating Indian prime minister Indira Gandhi, along with the slogan "They gave their today for our tomorrow." ... This is not the first year the parade has drawn controversy because of its support for Sikh militants in India.

- Surrey Sikh parade's martyrs float angers mayor

That there are some Muslim terrorists does not imply that all Muslims are terrorists. Similarly, even if most Sikhs are peaceful that does not imply that there are no violent Sikh organizations.

Light Drinking Said OK for Pregnant Women: While binge drinking is still harmful, pregnant women can safely consume small amounts of alcohol.
The reports seem always to go back and forth on this issue. Now "the study, which found no evidence of harm from having a couple drinks a week during pregnancy, was so well done and its findings so conclusive that it ought to become the final word in the field, said Fred Bookstein, an applied statistician who studies fetal alcohol spectrum disorders at both the University of Washington, Seattle, and the University of Vienna." Is this the final word, or simply the next round?

Why Libraries Are Back in Style: It's Not Because of Books; They're 'Memory Rooms' Or TV-Free Private Spaces
I think that every area in which I've got books stored is within a few feet of a TV or computer. Can't say I'm overly surprised about this trend.
