Tips to criminals: don't assume that the cops don't speak a language and confess your crime in it when they're around. That said, the cop mentioned here could speak 7 languages which is very impressive.
But, of course, the laws being what they are this woman can't legally be identified and won't be prosecuted. It's interesting though that the British government appears to be moving in the direction of protecting the identity of those accused of rape until they're convicted at trial. That might be a way to even things out.
