Obesity Rates Keep Rising, Troubling Health Officials
The crazy part of this obesity trend is just how fast it's developed. Look at their graphs illustrating how quickly the prevalence of obesity has grown in the U.S. within just the last decade.
Lauded economist slams census decision
"I think it’s ridiculous the government would intervene and tell Statistics Canada how to collect its information" - I'm sure other polling agencies would appreciate the ability to threaten people with jail time if they refused to divulge information. Obviously there's no reason for the government to exert any control over Statistics Canada.

  • Blindness by Jose Saramago
  • Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro
  • I read both of the above fairly recently. While novels, they're also of the more thought-provoking form I found. The first looks at what might happen if blindness became contagious and caught on like an epidemic. I'm not quite sure how to describe the second - I'd like to say that it addresses medical ethics, that description really seems to fail to capture the story.
