It also seems that in the latest revision of the rules, the scoring exception for two-tile cities has been removed so they now score 4 instead of 2 points.

The other day I signed up for Shaw's student plan, and decided to get a little cable TV along with high-speed internet. With the student package high speed costs about $22.50 per month; basic cable is $10; and full cable is $20. Installation is scheduled to take place on Saturday (incidentally spoiling my planned trip to Banff), and I'm trying to figure out if I should phone up Shaw and switch from basic cable to full.

Basic cable gives you about 25 channels, and full basically doubles that (adding in TLC, Discovery, History, Prime, A&E, etc.). It seems that - outside of Calgary - most of the stations in the basic package are feeds from Spokane.

So, I ran into the tail-end of a 24 hour special about a week or so ago so I had booked a flight back into the valley in July in an attempt to sneak up on my parents.

Anyways, a couple of days later I received a message relayed via my sister from my parents who were somewhere in Northern BC at the time. Basically I was offered the airmiles for a flight out to BC at the time if I'd be willing to fork out for the surcharges and taxes. It's a tad hard to refuse someone willing to offer you a "free" flights. Eventually I simply had to spill the beans as I ran out of other excuses for why I couldn't fly that weekend. Ah well, guess this just means that I'll have to try this again sometime later.
