The "Lost Tomb of Jesus" documentary

I don't know if any of you have been following along the news stories (here's one example) regarding this documentary produced by James Cameron (director of the movie Titanic), and entitled "The Lost Tomb of Jesus".

This seems rather obviously a money-making scheme more than anything in any remote sense credible. According to Canada.com, even the director by himself doesn't seem to claim anything more than a scant 0.00005% probability that this hypothesis is correct. And, even then, you know what they say about statistics...

Jews for Jesus

I've been listening to Jerram Barrs speak on the topic of Christian Worship lately. He spent a rather long time dealing with all sorts of hymns and the like out there, but one thing that he mentioned was that the organization Jews for Jesus had been involved in throwing together some music. I discovered that a bunch of these songs are available online. Some of the songs are quite interesting - it's an interesting musical style.

Audio... audio... and more audio

One thing that the ESV blog noted this week was that more copies of lengthy unabridged audiobooks are being sold.

I suppose that I'm a bit of an audiobook / lecture junky. When my brother was over he grabbed my iPod and started scrolling around on it looking for a song. Interestingly my iPod is full of stuff, but there's not a single song on it. (Talk about being nerdy!)

For those interested in grabbing a copy of the Bible in audio format, Chapters has the ESV Listener's Bible (MP3-CD edition) for about $39. For those willing to put up with a little DRM, Audible will allow you to get your hands on a version even cheaper (and get your hands on some other audiobooks as well).

My suggestion to you if you go for one of these is to be wary of the dramatized versions. I have a copy of Zondervan's dramatized recording of the NIV (from Audible), and they put in some fairly soft background music. The problem there is that the background music seemed quite repetitive and got rather annoying after a while. I do still like having a different reader for each voice though.
