Wow--his back is still steaming even after they've put out the fire and gotten him out of the fire resist gear. What if he'd missed the landing pad!?!?? Not to mention the shattering glass flying around his head!
I'm guessing that the glass wasn't actually glass. My understanding is that you can do fairly funky things with sugar as a glass substitute - possibly with other similar substances as well.
