"Men tend to want boys; women are divided in their gender preferences" - I'm not sure how seriously to take this particular preference as far as actions go. Alongside this the WHO reports that for sex-selection practiced in the US pre-conception - the only place data on US sex-selection practices is actually recorded - 80% of requests as of Jan 2004 were for girls.
