Am I crazy enough to try to fix this thing?

I picked up a cheap replacement power adaptor for my iBook in July, but then last evening had the dreaded logic failure (the 4th time it's occurred on this machine). The laptop is out of warranty and Apple charges $700+ for the repair, so I'd rather just replace the thing than spend that kind of money. It does appear though thay some have had some success with DIY repairs - the question is, am I crazy enough?

I think that the answer to that last question is probably yes - but I need to somehow find the time to do it. It seems almost silly to waste much time on a laptop that's more than 3 years old though.

It's not like you have to worry about voiding your warranty, so I would say go for it.
