No more Taliban? Has anything really changed in Afghanistan?

Saw the following headline today at Slice of Laodicea:

Afghan Man Faces Death for Allegedly Converting to Christianity

Call me a cynic when it comes to US foreign policy, but a lot of the hype over it is at very least misdirected.

I'm still following this case from lifesitenews.net regularly. One day it looks like he'll be executed, the next it looks like he'll be released, then it looks like he'll be released and mob-killed. All in all it doesn't look too hopeful.

The thing that bothers me most is a quote one Muslim cleric said. In it he calls Islam a religion of tolerance because they won't kill him but "graciously" give him another chance to convert back to Islam before sentencing him to death. Is that tolerance? Reminds me a little of what Constantine did. At least I think that's the emperor that made everyone become Christian or die, wasn't it?

Nope, I think that was Charlemagne. Constantine, if I recall correctly, tried to accomodate the pagans as much as possible while still being "Christian." Charlemagne did "conquer, convert, or die."

ahh, well at least I was close :)
